2012 Milan Design Week Participation
Young industrial designers from the Faculty of the Mechanical Engineering from Skopje, Macedonia presented their works on the Salone Satelite 2012 part of the 51st I Saloni exhibition in Milan. The students exhibited their innovative designs of furniture, lighting, various household items, and jewelry, which drew the attention of numerous visitors and journalists.
Two academic professors Prof. Tatjana Kandikjan, Ph.D. and Prof. Sofija Sidorenko, Ph.D. have initiated and organized this first appearance of industrial design students from Macedonia on an exhibition abroad, with financial support from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Skopje and the Ministry of Culture of Republic of Macedonia, supporting and advising students from the development of their designs and production and assembly of the prototypes to the very participation in the Milano Design Week.
Although the students have participated with their works in several exhibitions in Macedonia and the region, winning prestigious prizes, however, the Milan Design Week has been the first opportunity for these young designers to present their innovative designs to an international audience.
The following pieces from the following young designers have been exhibited at the Milan Design Week: “Relaxation Chair” by Dalibor Vuchich, “Infinity” (modular furniture) by Slave Ristomanov, “Bon appétit” (set of cookware for appetizers) and “The Matka Rocks” (jewelry) by Biljana Stojanovska, “Air massager” and “Macedonian Girl” by Violeta Vidoevska, “64L Club Table” by Milosh Gyuroski, “Wine bottle opener” by Stefan Ristovski, “Ancient Warrior” by Valentin Pop-Gonov”, “Patent door handle” by Agnesa Sarachini, and “I-tube project” and “Angular chair” by a group of students.
The designs presented at Milan Design week were presented also at Sofia Design Week 2012
