Product Prototyping

Since 2011 IDEA Lab includes a workshop space for making product prototypes using different materials and processes: clay modelling, Styrofoam-cutting and CNC milling of wood and plastics.  Other Labs of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering are also open for the industrial design students, such as Rapid prototyping and reverse engineering lab with FDM and 3D printing machines.

CNC prototyping and final part production
3-axis CNC milling machine for wood and plastics (work area 800x1200x180)  is a tool for cutting and sculpturing parts. It is used for prototyping in different kinds of wood, MDF, plastics and Styrodur as well as for production of final parts.

 Relief modeling and engraving
The fantasy of the designer, and the application of relief modeling and engraving techniques and software Artcam, can create exiting decorations of surfaces, molds and reliefs of logos.

Styrofoam cutting
Prototyping by cutting Stiyofoam  with a hot wire device is a fast way of transfering ideas into prototypes.

Clay modeling
Modeling with clay in designers hands results in fresh inspirational designs. The proportions, ergonomics, freedom of form are strong aspects of this technique.
